Desondanks wordt voor transmissie bij zeer hoge spanning over lange afstanden nog altijd gelijkstroom gebruikt, met name onderzees en om netwerken van verschillende frequenties met elkaar te koppelen (bijvoorbeeld in Japan voor koppeling tussen de netten van 50 Hz in het noorden en 60 Hz in het zuiden).<\/p>\n<p>En de situatie blijft evolueren . De noodzaak voor interconnecties tussen landen om de elektriciteit uitwisseling te verzekeren (bijvoorbeeld de <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nemo-link.com\/nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interconnectie Nemo Link\u00ae<\/a> in de Noordzee en de <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elia.be\/nl\/projecten\/netprojecten\/alegro\/alegro-content\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interconnectie ALEGrO<\/a>), evenals de decentralisatie van de stroomproductiesites (bijvoorbeeld het windmolenpark in de Noordzee), impliceert de ontwikkeling van elektrische verbindingen over lange afstand die effici\u00ebnter zijn in gelijkstroom. Het ontstaat door het potentiaalverschil tussen de hoge atmosfeer (de ionosfeer, positief geladen) en de aarde (negatief geladen). Bij rustig weer varieert het elektrisch veld tussen 100 en 150 V\/m. Bij onweer kan het echter waarden van 15 tot 20 kV\/m bereiken (dit is 15 000 tot 20 000 V\/m).<\/p>\n<p>Het statisch EV ligt eveneens aan de oorsprong van wat wij elektrostatische ontlading noemen en wat we soms ervaren als we bij koud en droog weer uit onze auto stappen. Deze ontladingen zijn het gevolg van een elektrisch veld dat ontstaat tussen de auto en ons lichaam, bijvoorbeeld via de hand. Als het veld voldoende groot is, dit wil zeggen als het doorslagveld van lucht (ongeveer 300 kV\/m in functie van de luchtvochtigheid, vervuiling &#8230;) wordt overschreden, wordt de lucht geleidend en zullen de door de auto geaccumuleerde ladingen ogenblikkelijk naar de grond vloeien. Het statisch EV ter hoogte van de hand bereikt waarden hoger dan het doorslagveld van de lucht.<\/p>\n<p>De statische EV die gemeten kunnen worden onder hoogspanningslijnen of bovenleidingen van treinen bedragen respectievelijk 20 tot 30 kV\/m en 600 V\/m. De magneten die we vandaag gebruiken hebben sterktes in de orde van 10 mT (10 000 \u00b5T).<\/p>\n<p>Onze aarde is een enorme magneet die ons dankzij de krachtlijnen van het statisch MV tussen beide polen, beschermt tegen straling uit de ruimte. Het geomagnetisch veld heeft in Belgi\u00eb sterktes in de orde van 45 \u00b5T. Bij medische apparaten gebruikt de RMI een super magneet waarvan de sterkte kan vari\u00ebren tussen 1,5 en 10 T (1 500 000 en 10 000 000 \u00b5T).<\/p>\n<p>Nabij gelijkstroominstallaties kan men velden meten in de orde van enkele tientallen \u00b5T onder hoogspanningslijnen en in orde van 200 \u00b5T onder bovenleidingen van treinen. Als men zich 5 meter verwijdert, zakken de waarden onder de 10 \u00b5T voor hoogspanningslijnen en 100 \u00b5T voor bovenleidingen .<\/p>\n<p>In een trein heeft het statische MV een sterkte van rond de 40 \u00b5T.
