To mitigate this difficulty, the only solution is to directly connect consumers to electricity production sites and produce electricity on demand.<\/p>\n<p>Het transport- en distributienet voert de elektriciteit vanuit de productiecentrales (nucleaire, hydraulische, thermische centrales, windparken) tot de verbruikzones. Om de energieverliezen tot een minimum te beperken vergt het transport van elektriciteit over lange afstanden hoogspanningslijnen. De distributie naar de verbruikers gebeurt echter in laagspanning. Een transformator kan het spanningsniveau wijzigen.<\/p>\n<p>Samengevat transporteert, verdeelt en distribueert het energienet (lijnen, kabels, transformatorcabines) de door de centrales geleverde energie naar alle verbruikers. Het leggen van die kabels heeft echter een aantal nadelen:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Vergeleken met luchtlijnen is de kost per kilometer kabel veel hoger (1 km kabel kan tot 10 maal meer kosten dan 1 km luchtlijn afhangend van het spanningsniveau, het profiel van het terrein, enz.) (Bastard P., 2000).<\/li>\n<li>De kabels worden hoofdzakelijk langs wegen gelegd en kunnen beschadigd worden bij wegenwerken.<\/li>\n<li>De kabels zijn ook minder bereikbaar voor herstellingen en de technologie heeft nog niet alle problemen opgelost die zich stellen bij transport van zeer hoge spanning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Een ondergrondse kabel doet geen elektrisch veld ontstaan. Bij gelijke stroomsterkte genereert de kabel echter een magnetisch veld dat groter is dan bij een luchtlijn. Er moet hier wel opgemerkt worden dat dit maximumwaarden zijn, gemeten zonder enige belemmering, want de elektrische velden kunnen hierdoor gemakkelijk gedempt worden.<\/p>\n<p>In de buurt van elektrische gelijkstroominstallaties kunnen statische magnetische velden in de grootorde van enkele tientallen \u00b5T worden gemeten onder hoogspanningsleidingen en in de grootorde van 200 \u00b5T onder een treinlijn.
