La repr\u00e9sentation math\u00e9matique consiste g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement en un ensemble de variables et un ensemble d&#8217;\u00e9quations, ces derni\u00e8res \u00e9tablissant des relations entre les variables. Le mod\u00e8le math\u00e9matique permet, par exemple, de facilement tester diff\u00e9rents cas de figure, de comprendre les relations entre les variables, d&#8217;extrapoler les donn\u00e9es afin de leur donner un sens, &#8230; Les mod\u00e8les sont typiquement utilis\u00e9s lorsqu&#8217;il est impossible ou peu pratique de mettre en place des exp\u00e9riences durant lesquelles les scientifiques peuvent mesurer directement les r\u00e9sultats. Cependant, m\u00eame si l&#8217;approche exp\u00e9rimentale est possible, obtenir un bon mod\u00e8le math\u00e9matique est toujours int\u00e9ressant, car le mod\u00e8le peut fournir des indications sur le fonctionnement interne d&#8217;un syst\u00e8me alors que les mesures directes ne le permettent pas n\u00e9cessairement.<\/p>\n<p>Dans les recherches sur les champs \u00e9lectromagn\u00e9tiques, un effort important est consacr\u00e9 \u00e0 la construction de mod\u00e8les math\u00e9matiques permettant de calculer les champs \u00e9lectriques et magn\u00e9tiques g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9s par des appareils ou installations \u00e9lectriques (lignes \u00e0 haute tension, transformateurs, moteurs, circuits \u00e9lectroniques, fours&#8230;). Depuis peu, les chercheurs tentent d&#8217;\u00e9tendre l&#8217;utilisation de ces mod\u00e8les au calcul des champs \u00e9lectromagn\u00e9tiques \u00e0 l&#8217;int\u00e9rieur des organismes vivants (du niveau cellulaire jusqu&#8217;au corps humain entier). De tels mod\u00e8les sont extr\u00eamement complexes, et ne peuvent pas \u00eatre r\u00e9solus &#8220;\u00e0 la main&#8221; sur papier: ils requi\u00e8rent\u00a0l&#8217;utilisation d&#8217;ordinateurs qui fragmentent le corps en de nombreuses formes g\u00e9om\u00e9triques simples (par exemple, des petits cubes), dans lesquelles des \u00e9quations math\u00e9matiques sont r\u00e9solues.<\/p>\n<p>La mod\u00e9lisation pr\u00e9sente un int\u00e9r\u00eat majeur dans la d\u00e9finition des directives et recommandations limitant l\u2019exposition du public aux champs \u00e9lectromagn\u00e9tiques. Par exemple, les directives r\u00e9centes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tablies dans le but d\u2019\u00e9viter des champs \u00e9lectriques internes sup\u00e9rieurs \u00e0 0,02 V\/m pour le public et 0,1 V\/m en milieu professionnel (voir les pages <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbemg.uliege.be\/normes\/?lang=fr\">Normes<\/a>). La mod\u00e9lisation permet de pr\u00e9dire l\u2019intensit\u00e9 de tels champs \u00e9lectriques internes dans des mod\u00e8les complets du corps humain ou dans des mod\u00e8les de parties de corps expos\u00e9s \u00e0 diverses sources externes (champs magn\u00e9tiques, champs \u00e9lectriques, courants de contact, &#8230;). La mod\u00e9lisation est \u00e9galement pertinente dans les \u00e9tudes in vitro et in vivo afin d\u2019\u00e9valuer pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment la distribution des champs dans les cellules et les animaux de laboratoire, en fonction du syst\u00e8me d\u2019exposition. Verschillen tussen de theoretische, wiskundige modellen en de proefondervindelijke metingen bevorderen vaak een belangrijke vooruitgang doordat betere theorie\u00ebn worden ontwikkeld. Om de tweede bron van afwijkingen in te perken worden probabilistische (stochastische) wiskundige modellen ontwikkeld, die de gevoeligheid van de resultaten met betrekking tot de onzekerheden in de
