Biological and health effects of co-exposure

This work package focuses on the biological and health effects of exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs) and other environmental agents.
Two teams of scientists are working on this topic. One team is conducting meta-analyses, while the other is carrying out biomonitoring.

Systematic review and meta-analysis on the health effects and carcinogenic effets of co-exposure with extremely low frequency magnetic fields combined with other risk factors

The Public Health team from the University of Liège will continue to monitor the scientific literature by conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses.

They will further explore the potential link between magnetic fields and cancer and take into account other risk factors in their analyses such as traffic-related air pollution and exposure to chemicals like pesticides. The health outcomes of interest will be the incidence of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
